Details: Originally sketched and coloured for wallpaper Lent Lily has been thoughtfully refined by the Morris & Co. design team. Bold stylised floral motifs of pointed tulips contrast with the swirls of the iconic acanthus leaf. The name Lent Lily refers to the miniature wild daffodils nestled into the ground of this lovingly adapted design. Taken from a rarely seen watercolour artwork in the archive the design retains the original hand-drawn movement through a considered approach to the printing process. Translated into a beautiful embroidery design using a range of stitching techniques Lent Lily highlights the finished and unfinished aspects of the original design celebrating artistry and technique in equal measure. Two-tone and solid yarns create movement in this embroidery adding interest through varied yarns for an artisanal finish.
