Details: This incredibly complex six-ply silk is named after Asias mysterious mythical serpent the Naga. Worshiped in ancient times as a protector of the earth and rivers, the Naga motif appears repeatedly in local art. Here Jim Thompson has drawn on rich earth tones and blues from the skies and rivers to create the five colorways. Texture is created through the use of raised silk lines running the length of the weft, which are contrasted by a diagonal printed pattern borne out of warp printing. The effect is of a shimmering mythical Naga sliding though the grass.
